Polyester

Ropes, Cordage, Lines and Ropes Made from Polyester

Here you will find our extensive selection of ropes made from polyester. If you are looking to buy a strong and durable rope, polyester is the best choice. Polyester ropes withstand heavy wear, saltwater, UV light, abrasion and high temperatures. Compared to polypropylene (PP), polyamide and polyethylene, polyester ropes are comfortable to handle, flexible and minimize tangling. Our range of braided cordage is suitable for a variety of applications, including sheet ropes, mooring lines, hauling lines, flag lines, starter lines, barrier ropes, fender lines, trim lines, climbing ropes and ropes for other maritime and industrial purposes.

Braided vs. Laid Cordage

Stretch

Since the rope is braided, it possesses several properties that a traditional 3- or 4-strand laid rope does not have. Braided cordage is "stiffer" (has less stretch) compared to laid ropes, making it more often used for applications such as towing or securing where the rope should not yield. Minimal stretch is often a requirement when using the rope as a sheet line or towing line. While some braided lines have some stretch, generally, all braided ropes are relatively stiff.

Flexibility

Laid cordage is typically composed of two or three smaller ropes (strands) that are "twisted" together, creating a tension that can make the rope difficult to handle. A laid rope can easily "kink," making it challenging to manage. A braided rope has a construction that makes it smooth and flexible.
