Braided rope

Ropes, cordage and lines are made either by braiding or "laying" (twisting) them. In this category, we've gathered all braided ropes and lines. The ropes are braided in different ways with varying tightness and are made from various materials. Braided cordage is popular because it doesn't kink (twist), is stiffer compared to laid cordage (lower stretch), lighter and easier to handle. These qualities make braided ropes suitable for pulling applications, sailing, climbing, arborists, hoisting lines, clotheslines, flaglines and other areas where flexibility, shape stability and low stretch are desired.

Braided cordage today has a very broad range of uses and has replaced many applications where laid cordage was previously used. One of the major advantages of braided cordage is its flexibility and ease of handling. Braided cordage doesn't kink and twist in the same way as laid lines, making it much easier to handle. The braiding also makes the cord stiffer and less elastic, which simplifies all kinds of pulling and hoisting applications.

Braided ropes have replaced laid cordage in almost all applications on sailing ships. For halyards, sheets, trim, etc., braided cordage is now used (except on traditional ships and vessels). Braided rope runs more smoothly through blocks, is more comfortable to pull and offers higher pulling power due to its stiffness.

In addition to sailing ships, motorboats, fishing boats and other vessels, braided cordage is used in many other industries. The ropes are used, for example, as hoisting and pulling lines in theaters, construction and manufacturing industries, for barrier ropes, rope fences, railings, winch lines, vertical lifelines, blind cords, flaglines, clotheslines, starter lines, towing lines and much more.

Polyester is the best choice if you want a strong and durable rope. Polyester has high breaking strength, withstands most chemicals, doesn't rot, is highly resistant to acids, retains its strength in wet conditions, has good dielectric resistance and is very resistant to sunlight. Polyester is comfortable to handle and more flexible compared to other materials.

Polypropylene (PP) is the cheapest material for making ropes and is a good option if you're looking for a simpler rope. Polypropylene ropes come in various qualities and have a wide range of uses. PP has medium breaking strength and is slightly more elastic compared to polyester. Polypropylene is especially known for staying afloat in water, being lightweight and withstanding most chemicals and acids.

Polyethylene (PE) is a versatile plastic that has slightly lower wear resistance compared to PP but has excellent abrasion resistance. Polyethylene has low water absorption, low friction coefficient, good mechanical strength and chemical resistance. We offer both ropes made entirely of polyethylene and ropes where polyethylene is one of the components.

Natural fibers are comfortable to handle and are often used for decoration, weaving, furniture upholstery, knotwork, rope fenders, blinds, crafts, DIY projects and more. Most natural fiber ropes are laid, but we offer two types of braided ropes made from natural fibers.

Sailing - ropes are used everywhere on a boat. Rope is the boat's most important infrastructure and is essential for sailing. For sailors, the cordage is as important as the hull design, which is why today there is a wide range of materials and manufacturing techniques to produce ropes. We offer a variety of high-performance ropes for both leisure sailors and racers.

Mooring and anchoring - many today also use braided cordage for mooring and anchoring. We offer a wide range of cordage suitable for mooring and anchoring, with high breaking strength and weather resistance. We also have pre-spliced mooring lines and fender ropes. The mooring cordage comes with pre-spliced loops, hooks, thimbles and rubber shock absorbers.

Reflective ropes - here we offer ropes with reflective threads woven in. The reflective ropes come in various colors and are designed for maximum visibility, both in daylight and darkness. The reflective ropes are made of polyester multifilament for durability and easy handling. Suitable uses include barriers, dog leashes, pull ropes, fences, tracking lines, hoisting lines and lead ropes for horses.

Braiding types - here we have sorted the ropes based on how they are braided. Braided ropes are braided with different densities, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, etc. The tightness of the braiding determines how stiff the rope is, its shape and how it behaves. A tightly braided rope (e.g., 32-braid) is stiffer and has a rounder shape compared to a loosely braided rope.

Special products - here we offer rope products designed for specific purposes but with many other applications. Here you'll find, among other things, flaglines, starter lines and lift lines.
