Polyamide thimble is used where extra resistance to moisture and corrosion is desired. Polyamide is a synthetic material that does not rust, making it well-suited for maritime environments. It is especially suitable for anchor lines and mooring lines. The thimble does not have the same strength and abrasion protection as a galvanized or stainless steel thimble and is not normally used for wire or heavy lifting. A thimble is a drop-shaped ring with turned-up edges to fit well in the rope. A thimble is spliced into the rope and serves as additional abrasion protection, improving the durability of the loop.
Examples of applications:
- Thimble made of polyamide is used as abrasion protection for spliced loops
- Perfect for mooring lines and anchor lines
- For hoisting and lifting devices
- Anchoring ropes in the rigging, fixed lines on vessels, docks, fishing boats, etc.
